Journal - PSGRS Newsletter

We like to say, "Our newsletter is the glue that binds our club together." It is a periodical that reports on what has happened and will happen in the club, informs members on club matters, and provides information related to Garden Railroading. The newsletter is not a paid subscription; rather, it is distributed to club members as part of their membership entitlements. However, some copies are sent to candidate members as an enticement to become members, some copies are sent to other Garden Railroad Society clubs with whom we exchange newsletters to share information, and some are provided as courtesy (smoozing) copies to commercial entities related to Garden Railroading. It is published using a combination of volunteer work (not paid) and printing services by vendors (paid). The cost to produce and distribute the newsletter is paid from only membership dues and revenue earned by the club. The newsletter does not include paid commercial advertising.

The newsletter is published eleven months of the year, February through December, and is usually published as a black and white booklet. Recently, we began including special centerfold articles in color to recognize and share the modeling talents of some of our most accomplished, and usually prolific, modelers. We plan to continue periodically to provide these colored feature articles. In addition to the paper version of the newsletter, staff maintains a PSGRS E-mail mailing list for shotgun communications to members who provide e-mail addresses as part of their membership data. The E-Mail members receive and, as applicable, respond to club correspondence that is time sensitive. Thus, as an extension of the newsletter, e-mail also helps "bind the club together."

We have plans to expand the newsletter part of our web site to include past issues of newsletters, provide a "by request" access to archived pictures and information from past newsletters and club activities, and a photo gallery displaying pictures of layouts, rolling stock, and past club activities.

If you need to contact the newsletter, send a telegraph by e-mail to Newsletter Editor.
